At first glance, picking out a keyswitch seems like a straightforward proposition. Each keyswitch has some precise-sounding numbers attached to it: actuation force, total travel distance, and so on. But no matter how carefully you read those numbers, you don't actually know what that keyswitch is going to feel like under your fingers. The specs only tell a small part of the story.

So naturally, people email us. Then Tisha, who has years and years of experience using mechanical keyboards, usually replies with some comprehensive, thoughtful, and subjective descriptions of those switches. Nothing you would find on a spec sheet.

As I was reading through some of these conversations in our support system, it struck me: This is a wealth of knowledge and experience that shouldn't be locked up in individual threads. That's how Tisha Talks Switches was born. It's our not-a-podcast (you won't find it on Spotify and so on), all about keyswitches.

Rather than focus each episode on a specific switch, we decided to go by color. Right now we're starting the series with an introduction, a Brown episode for the most popular tactile switches, and a Blue episode for that famously clicky variant. Each episode has a fully searchable and clickable transcript. There is no set length per episode. We try to stick to the theme, but because the subject matter is so subjective, we do ramble every now and then.

Think of it as going to your local record store (back when that was a thing) and talking to the thoughtful employee there who seemed to know all of the obscure little details about what you were looking for.

Update: As of the beginning of 2022, we've talked about every single switch we offer! All episodes will remain available on the Tisha Talks Switches page. Enjoy!
