Our latest addition to Oryx is a small win for clarity: your keyboard can tell you when Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, and Num Lock are toggled on.
Note that macOS does not use the Scroll Lock and Num Lock keys, so the only lock indicator supported in macOS is Caps Lock.
We have a setting for using one of the board’s indicator LEDs for Caps Lock, but this is a little different. The indicator LEDs are fine for something you don’t leave turned on like Caps Lock, but not as ideal for Num Lock, which you’ll probably leave on most of the time.
Now, when you assign one of these lock keys in your layout, you’ll see a new color assignment option.

Whenever you hit that key to turn the lock on, it will glow the color your select. When you turn that key off, the key will go back to its original state.

This works no matter what lighting mode you're in. So, you can use it through an animation or with no lights at all.
You can even use it to tempoarily overwrite a custom color you set up in Oryx.
For most people who rarely need to lock and unlock these keys, they work best tucked away in a layer in your layout. When you need to double-check whether one of them is locked on, you can go to that layer, but they won’t get in the way of your normal lighting scheme.
I feel like there’s a pun here to be made about locks and keys, but I’m not finding one. If you have ideas about that or questions about anything else, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].
